From Stay to Impact

Turtle in the Reef

Our Story

Despite Australia being home to extraordinary nature-based stays, there’s no single place to discover the best of them. And yet, travellers are increasingly looking for stays that reflect their values and deepen their connection to place.

Through our own eco-tourism venture, we realised just how much untapped potential sits within travel spending—how the act of choosing a stay can directly support the landscapes and communities travellers come to experience.

Having spent seven years in the non-profit ocean sector, we’ve seen first-hand how hard it is to secure steady funding for conservation. Less than ten percent of global philanthropy supports environmental causes, and barely one percent reaches the ocean—the very system that sustains life on Earth.

Stay Kindly was created to harness that potential. A platform that not only elevates Australia’s most compelling nature-led stays, but channels part of the profit into long-term support for the local, grassroots organisations protecting the environments our shared future depends on.

Our Purpose

Stay Kindly exists to connect hosts, travellers and communities in a shared commitment to safeguard the natural world. We believe every stay can become a quiet act of conservation—funding local projects that restore habitats, protect wildlife and keep our oceans healthy for generations to come.

Our Model

Stay Kindly is built on a model of locally directed support. A portion of platform profits is reinvested into carefully vetted environmental organisations working in the same regions where hosts operate and guests travel.

These groups undertake practical projects, including coastal restoration and wildlife protection. Stay Kindly shares an annual summary of the collective impact created through the community.

Travellers can book with confidence, knowing their stay is connected to the long-term care of the landscapes they’ve come to experience.
